Veterinarian in Santa Clara, UT
Santa Clara doesn't have a veterinary hospital of its own. Agave Animal Hospital is being built a short drive away in St. George, expected to open in early 2027, and we plan to earn the trip.
A veterinarian for one of the county's oldest towns
Santa Clara wears its history on its main street: Swiss pioneer roots, the old Jacob Hamblin home, heritage lots along Santa Clara Drive, and newer neighborhoods climbing toward the hills. Below town, the Santa Clara River corridor and the trails of the Santa Clara River Reserve give local dogs the kind of daily mileage most city dogs never see.
There's no veterinary hospital in Santa Clara itself, so care means a drive. Agave Animal Hospital won't change the drive, but it will change what's at the end of it: a new, independently owned hospital in St. George, built by two local veterinarians, expected to open in early 2027. Everything will live under one roof — wellness exams, vaccinations, dental care with dental X-rays, spay and neuter, surgery, and in-house lab work and imaging.
For trail dogs, porch cats, and everyone in between
Years of river-corridor miles eventually show up in joints, and years of anything show up in teeth. That's why dental care and senior wellness are core services in what we're building, not add-ons. For younger pets, Santa Clara's family neighborhoods mean a steady supply of first-year puppies and kittens, and we'll be ready with vaccine series, microchipping, and honest first-year advice.
The river corridor is also snake country in the warm months. Our rattlesnake guide for local dog owners covers the season, the first-aid myths, and what actually helps after a bite.
Getting to Agave from Santa Clara
We're building on the south end of River Road in St. George, near where River Road meets the Southern Parkway. From Santa Clara, follow Santa Clara Drive into St. George and keep working south and east across the valley; plan on about 20 minutes. Our Ivins neighbors will pass right through town making the same trip.
Until we open, nothing changes for you today: for anything urgent, contact your regular veterinarian or the nearest emergency veterinary provider. When we do open, we plan to be a full-service hospital, with room held for emergency and same-day sick visits during regular hours whenever we can.
Santa Clara is one of three communities we've written dedicated pages for, alongside Ivins and Washington. The full county picture is on our areas we serve page.
