Veterinary careers in St. George, Utah
Agave Animal Hospital opens in early 2027, and the team is being chosen now. Independently owned, built to AAHA standards, and hiring people who want to practice real medicine without giving up their life to do it.
Why build your career at a hospital that isn't open yet?
Because the alternative is joining a culture someone else already set. Veterinary medicine in Southern Utah, like everywhere, is consolidating: hospital groups managed from out of state, production targets set by people who have never met your patients, and applications that disappear into recruiting portals. Agave is the other thing. Two veterinarians are building this hospital themselves, they will practice in it every day, and the people who join before opening will help decide how it runs — the protocols, the standards, the pace of an appointment.
That is not a perk we invented for this page. It is the reason the hospital exists, and it is the same story we tell pet owners choosing between corporate and independent care.
What we can tell you plainly
- A four-day week on a Monday-through-Friday schedule. Sustainable schedules are a design decision here, not a negotiation.
- Owners on the floor. The veterinarians who own Agave work clinical shifts. You will be known by name, and your cases will have a second set of experienced eyes whenever you want one.
- Mentorship that is structural, not a bullet point. Our veterinarians are experienced across internal medicine, dentistry, and surgery, and teaching is part of the job description at every level: veterinarians, technicians, and assistants. Medicine here is practiced to AAHA standards, and we will help you meet and surpass them.
- A brand-new facility with real equipment: in-house laboratory, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and a surgical suite with modern anesthesia and monitoring, from day one.
- Emergency caseload on a daytime schedule. Agave takes emergency and urgent cases during posted hours: the clinical variety that keeps your skills sharp, inside a week you can live with.
- A pet-care discount for your own animals.
- A teaching hospital by intention. Our sister hospital, Mtn Green Animal Hospital, hosts internship and externship students from Utah State University's veterinary school, and Agave plans to do the same.
Compensation and the rest of the package are a first-conversation topic, and we hold that conversation openly. Ask us anything.
