Agave Animal Hospital is a new, locally owned veterinary hospital created to give Southern Utah families a warmer, more modern place to care for the animals they love.
Our story
Agave Animal Hospital was founded by two local veterinarian-owners — including
Dr. Nicole Sorensen — who share a simple belief: great veterinary care
should feel personal. We wanted to build a practice where pets are treated like family,
where owners never feel rushed, and where modern medicine and genuine compassion go hand in hand.
Why “Agave”?
The agave is a desert plant that thrives where others struggle — resilient, deeply rooted,
and unmistakably part of the Southern Utah landscape. That’s exactly the spirit we want for
our hospital and the pets we care for: healthy, hardy, and at home in St. George. From the red
rock heat to the trails your dogs love, we understand the realities of desert pet ownership and
tailor our care to it.
Independent, not corporate
Across the country, more and more local veterinary clinics are being bought up by
large national corporations. Agave is different: we are privately owned and
independently operated by the veterinarians who treat your pets. That independence means our
decisions are guided by what’s right for your animal and your family — not by corporate
quotas or outside shareholders. The model is proven, too: co-founder Dr. Nicole Sorensen
built and owns Mtn
Green Animal Hospital in Mountain Green, Utah, which has served its community the same
way since 2025.
What you can expect
Whether it’s a first puppy visit, a routine wellness exam, a dental cleaning, surgery, or a
worrying day when your pet just isn’t themselves, we’ll meet you with clear communication,
fair guidance, and a steady, caring hand.
Compassion first
We treat every animal as if it were our own.
Modern medicine
Thoughtful diagnostics, surgery, and preventive care.
Dr. Nicole Sorensen is a co-owner of Agave Animal Hospital and a graduate of the Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She is known for creating a calm, supportive environment where pets and their people feel heard and respected, and for treating every animal as if it were her own — from routine wellness visits to complex medical and surgical cases.
We’re not open yet — Agave Animal Hospital, St. George’s newest independently owned veterinary hospital, is expected to open in early 2027. We can’t wait to meet you and your pets.
