A new option going up minutes from the Fields

Washington City is one of the fastest-growing cities in Washington County, and the Fields are where most of it is happening: new streets, new families, new puppies and kittens by the block. Green Springs and Coral Canyon anchor the north end, with downtown Washington holding the middle together.

Washington pet owners have choices, including some close to home. Here's ours: Agave Animal Hospital, a brand-new, independently owned hospital going up on the south end of River Road in St. George, right where the Southern Parkway ties the Fields to our end of the valley. No corporate parent. Two local veterinarians who will make every medical decision in the exam room, not on a conference call.

We expect to open in early 2027, and when we do, everything a pet needs will live under one roof: wellness exams, vaccinations, dental care, spay and neuter, surgery, and in-house diagnostics.

Getting to Agave from Washington

From Washington Fields, it's barely a trip: cut west through Little Valley to River Road and follow it south, and we're right where River Road meets the Southern Parkway. From Green Springs, Coral Canyon, or downtown Washington, take I-15 south to the Southern Parkway and follow it to River Road. Either way, plan on about 10 to 15 minutes.

Until we open, nothing changes for you today: for anything urgent, contact your regular veterinarian or the nearest emergency veterinary provider. When we do open, we plan to be a full-service hospital, with room held for emergency and same-day sick visits during regular hours whenever we can.

Built for first-year puppies and kittens (and everyone after)

A growing city means a lot of first vet visits, and the first year is where good veterinary habits get set: vaccine series, spay and neuter timing, microchipping, and parasite prevention that actually fits Washington County's climate. We plan to do first years exceptionally well, with appointment lengths that leave time for your questions.

If you're comparing options (and you should), our guide to choosing a veterinarian in the St. George area lays out the questions worth asking anyone, including us.

Washington City questions, answered

Will Agave Animal Hospital serve Washington City?

Yes. We're being built on the south end of River Road in St. George, a few minutes west of Washington Fields, which puts most of Washington City within about 10 to 15 minutes of our door. We expect to open in early 2027 and plan to see Washington dogs and cats from day one.

How far is Agave from Green Springs?

Plan on about 15 minutes. Take I-15 south to the Southern Parkway and follow it to River Road; we’re going up near that corner of the valley. From Washington Fields it’s closer still — cut across to River Road and head south.

What should Washington dog owners watch for outdoors?

Heat first: pavement can burn paws at air temperatures most people consider pleasant, so shift summer walks to early morning. Dry grasses and washes carry ticks and barbed seed heads, so keep parasite prevention going year-round and check paws after walks. And anywhere neighborhoods meet open desert or the river corridor, rattlesnakes are a spring-through-fall reality; our rattlesnake guide on the blog covers exactly what to do.
