A real veterinary home for the far side of the valley

Ivins is the kind of town people choose on purpose. It sits tucked under Red Mountain at the mouth of Snow Canyon State Park, with the Kayenta arts village and Tuacahn up the road and red-rock trails in every direction. Pets here live genuinely outdoor lives, and they deserve more than a listing at the bottom of somebody's service-area page.

Agave Animal Hospital is a new, independently owned hospital going up on the south end of River Road in St. George, expected to open in early 2027. No corporate parent and no call center: two local veterinarians building the practice they'd want for their own pets, with wellness exams, vaccinations, dental care, surgery, and in-house diagnostics under one roof.

We know exactly what we're asking of Ivins families: a cross-valley drive to a hospital that isn't even open yet. We intend to be worth it. Unhurried appointments, doctors who know your pet by name, and medical decisions made in the exam room instead of a corporate office. That's the whole pitch.

Built for desert-edge dogs and cats

Living against Snow Canyon means your pets share the landscape with everything that lives there. Washington County has more rattlesnake species than any other county in Utah, and snakes are active from roughly April through October. Our rattlesnake guide for local dog owners covers prevention and what to do about a bite; the short version is a six-foot leash and a straight drive to a veterinary provider.

Open desert also makes two services close to mandatory. Microchipping, because a dog that slips a gate in Ivins has a lot of country to disappear into. And year-round parasite prevention, because Southern Utah winters rarely stay cold enough to shut fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes down for good.

Getting to Agave from Ivins

We're building on the south end of River Road in St. George, near where River Road meets the Southern Parkway. From Ivins, plan on roughly 25 minutes: drop through Santa Clara on Old Highway 91, or take Snow Canyon Parkway across to Bluff Street, then follow the valley south to River Road.

Until we open, nothing changes for you today: for anything urgent, contact your regular veterinarian or the nearest emergency veterinary provider. When we do open, we plan to be a full-service hospital, with room held in the schedule for emergency and same-day sick visits during regular hours whenever we can.

Ivins is one of the communities we're planning for by name, alongside Santa Clara and Washington. The full county picture is on our areas we serve page.
