The medicine

General practice at Agave means the full case mix: wellness and internal medicine, dentistry, soft tissue surgery, and emergency and urgent cases during posted hours. That last part matters. Washington County sends real emergencies through a general practice door: obstructions, pyometras, acute poisonings. Here they are treated, not triaged away. You keep the clinical variety that made you good, on a schedule that does not own you.

The building opens equipped: in-house laboratory, digital X-ray, ultrasound, and a surgical suite with modern anesthesia and monitoring. Medicine is practiced to AAHA standards from the first appointment.

The structure

  • A four-day week, Monday through Friday.
  • No production quotas. Appointment length and case decisions are made by veterinarians, in the exam room.
  • Owners who practice. The veterinarians who own Agave work clinical shifts, mentor deliberately, and are experienced across internal medicine, dentistry, and surgery. Complicated case? The consult is a hallway away.
  • A teaching culture with receipts: Utah State University veterinary students do internships and externships at our sister hospital, Mtn Green Animal Hospital, and Agave plans to host students the same way.
  • A founding seat. Join before opening and the protocols, the culture, and the standards carry your fingerprints.
  • A pet-care discount for your own animals.

New graduates: mentorship here is daily and structured, not a line in a job ad. Experienced veterinarians: if you have been practicing under a corporate playbook, you already know what this is the alternative to. Compensation is a first-conversation topic, held openly.

The timeline, honestly

Agave opens in early 2027. We are reviewing applications now and hiring ahead of opening, and you can watch the building go up on our construction log. If the timing is close but not exact for you, write to us anyway — the right people shape the plan.

Your note goes directly to the owners, not a recruiting inbox, and we reply within two business days.
